The amazing scenery, friendly locals and lots of facilities make the experience of fishing in Scotland a one of a kind. Salmon, brown trout and sea trout angling are just some of the opportunities Scotland offers, as coarse fishing is more and more popular. Almost any time of year a good fishing spot is available, but if you are in the look for salmon or sea trout, make sure you check carefully with the local venue as running times and seasons vary considerably.
The west coast has hundreds of small spate rivers, streams and lochs, while in the east you will find the classic salmon rivers of the Tay, Tweed, Dee and Spey. Further north is Caithness and Sutherland: a real puzzle of lochs streams and rivers. The islands offers, as well, quite an exceptional fishing experience. Around Glasgow and Edinburgh you will find some good fish even in the local rivers like the Clyde. The Tweed is well known for its salmon in the South, closer to the border with England. To the west you will find the Solway rivers which are famous for their sea trout as well as big late running salmon.
