Come visit one of the most personable wineries in Napa Valley for an extraordinary experience and to taste how great wines are made naturally! Grgich Hills Estate is a family owned and operated winery dedicated to the art of winemaking and committed to natural winegrowing and sustainability, with 100% estate grown certified organic and Biodynamic® vineyards. Founder and Winemaker Miljenko "Mike" Grgich, inducted into the Vintner Hall of Fame in 2008, became famous after he crafted the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won the historic 1976 Paris Tasting, besting the top white Burgundies.

With the Grgich Hills option, you'll enjoy a gourmet three course lunch in an elegant dining car as you journey northbound from downtown Napa through the Napa Valley. In Rutherford you'll disembark at Grgich Hills Estate for a one-hour private tour and tasting that includes our Rutherford Vineyard and a behind-the-scenes look at the cellar before ending with a tasting led by one of our wine educators. You may even meet Mike Grgich himself! You'll re-board the train for the dessert course in the Wine Train's restored 1915 Pullman Lounge Car as you head back to the Napa Station.

Inclusion

Welcome glass of wine - The welcome glass will be offered on board the train and will be either Napa Valley Wine Train Chardonnay or Merlot.

Hours of operation

This tour is offered December, January and February Friday-Sunday and March-December Daily year round. Closed on Valentine’s Day (February 14), the day prior to Valentines (February 13), Thanksgiving Day, Mother’s Day (as observed in the US), and New Year’s Eve (December 31).

10:50 AM Board the Train - You will begin in our Petite Gourmet Car, and our meal service will begin as soon as you arrive. Expect to begin eating at around 11:30 AM. 11:30 AM Train Departs
12:30 PM Disembark at Grgich Hills A representative from Grgich Hills will meet the train, and you will begin a short tour of Grgich Hills Winery. Following the tour, there will be a private tasting in the winery itself, with time to purchase wines. 1:30 PM Re-board the Train When you re-board the train, our staff will direct you to a lounge car, where you can enjoy our dessert and coffee service. The remaining hour of the trip is a good time to explore the rest of the train. 2:30 PM Train Returns to Napa

Additional Information All of our winery tours require moderate stair climbing and standing for extended periods.
