Highlights / General details

The Giants Causeway tour features a guided coach tour of the best of Northern Ireland’s landscapes and gives you an introduction to its capital: Belfast. You depart early morning from Dublin heading north to connect with the scenic Glens of Antrim coast drive. This drive has been compared to Highway 1 in California and the Great Ocean Road in Australia, with its sweeping views across the sea on the one side, and limestone cliffs on the other, while passing through small coastal villages with rocky harbours. The Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge connects the mainland with an island that has been used over the years by fishermen to place netting to capture migrating salmon. You can traverse this bridge to the island, with its abundance of birdlife, after having done a 15 minute scenic cliff walk. The Giants Causeway is the highlight of the trip – a UNESCO World Heritage site- which consists of a series of over 40,000 hexagonal shaped rocks that looks like a grand set of stairs leading into the sea-the formation of which has astounded generations of people, resulting in many a myth and stories surrounding their origin. We do a photo stop at Dunluce Castle- considered to be one of the most romantic promontory fortresses in the world, before turning southward again. Before arriving in Dublin however, we stop at Belfast City where you will be introduced to the “Troubles” era in Northern Ireland, and have some time to explore the city on your own. Arrive back in Dublin to reminisce over your day out at around dinner time.
