Depart from Guatemala City to Copán, Honduras, breakfast on route, we will arrive in Copán,

Copán is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization located in the Copán Department of western Honduras, not far from the border with Guatemala. It was the capital city of a major Classic period kingdom from the 5th to 9th centuries AD. The city was located in the extreme southeast of the Mesoamerican cultural region, on the frontier with the Isthmo-Colombian cultural region, and was almost surrounded by non-Maya peoples. In this fertile valley now lies a city of about 3000, a small airport, and a winding road.

You will arrive at one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Maya World: Copán, declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site. Our tour begins with a visit to the Mayan site of Copán or the “Kingdom of the Sun”, that dates from the Maya Classic period (300 to 900 AD) where can still be seen several stone sculptures

Enjoy a unique tour through Copan, this archaeological site has a special connection with Quirigua and covers the most impressive dynasty of the Mayan world the dynasty Yax Kuk Mo.

You will have free time to take lunch in Copán village by your own.

At the end of the tour return to Guatemala City.

Additional Information Please wear walking/hiking boots as we will be walking 3-4 hours, often in wet weather. Please bring hat, sunglasses, sunblock, camera, bug repellent, thin pants, rain gear, long sleeve t-shirt, personal medication, & passport (passport is required).
