The Venetians called it "Isola de Spezzie" (the Island of Fragrance) because of the many herbs growing here, and Spetses is a derivation of the original name.
Developed from a touristic point of view, Spetses has all the facilities to welcome its visitors, Greek and foreign. The island can be both quiet and cosmopolitan, it has some small bays to explore, historical sites to visit and wonderful beaches to lay all day long.
