Portree

Surrounded by high ground and cliffs, with a colourful and lively harbour, Portree is the largest town on the Isle of Skye. The main attraction is the port and Somerled Square, home to the war memorial. One interesting sight are the brightly painted buildings down the south-west side and also the natural white stone buildings on the north-west side. Along the years, their picture has appeared in many calendars.

During the last years, the town has developed a lot, supermarkets, shops and houses being built and also a secondary school.
