Portovenere comprises of three villages and three islands, and together with Cinque Terre they have been designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Along the beautiful harbour, the multicoloured houses are lined up with narrow streets and filled with shops. Walk up the hill and you'll reach a beautiful castle, and you should also visit St. Peter church, which was built over a pre-existing 5th century Palaeo-Christian church.
You can take the ferry to the island of Palmaria, where there's a nice beach, good for swimming and relaxing.
