Nosy Iranja is located north west of Madagascar, 45 kilometers (30 miles) from Nosy Be, exactly one and a half hour by speedboat. The Nosy Iranja are actually two islands, Nosy Iranja Be, the bigger one and Nosy Iranja Kely. They are connected by a sandbank, only visible at low tide.
On Nosy Iranja Be there is a small fishing village and a lighthouse designed by Gustav Eiffel. The island is also the breeding place for two species of turtles, green and hawksbill, who lay their eggs on the beach.
