The city of Lagos dates back to 2000 BC, when it was known by the name of Lacobriga. In 1249, Dom Afonso III made it part of the Portuguese kingdom, renamed it Lagos and so its modern area began.
One of the most beautiful parts of Lagos is the marina, where the anchored boats reveal the town's prestige.
The older part of Lagos is still surrounded by the city walls that were constructed in the 16th century. Combining charm with Portuguese history, and with its many attractive beaches, Lagos quickly became a loved seaside city.
