Literally meaning 'no worries', Sanssouci was built for emperor Frederik the Great, who used it as his summer retreat. It was built after the king's ideas, above the terrace vineyard. It is a major work of Rococo architecture. The Picture Gallery exhibits paintings of Renaissance artists like Caravaggio, Rubens and Van Dyck.
Even though the palace itself is a work of art, the real center piece is the palace's garden. Visitors can wonder through the many beautiful gardens, including the Sicilian Garden, home to many subtropical plants. The New Orangery and a series of fountains complete this beautiful setting.
