Based on the stories of Astérix, the boy who resists the Roman army, the park was opened in 1989 and has a variety of roller coasters and rides with themes from ancient Rome and Greece. It's a year round attraction, visited by millions of tourists, as it is only 35 kilometers (22 miles) north of Paris.
You'll meet not only Astérix, but all the characters from the books and you'll have the chance to learn more about Gallic history and mythology. The name of the rides are also inspired form history, like Flight of Icarus, Caesar's Spies, Descent Along the Styx. The latest addition to the park is La Trace du Hourra, a bobsled-type ride that races down a tube of metal sheeting at 54 kilometers per hour.
Different shows, restaurants, 40 candy shops and a hotel are also available in the park.
