The graceful Abbey of Mont St Michel was completed in 1521 after centuries of construction. By the 17th century, the influence of monasteries was on the wane and by the time of the French Revolution Mont Saint Michel was being used as a prison. Like other castles in France, it started to fall into disrepair by the late 19th century.

In 1873 went through complete renovation, and today, Mont Saint Michel attracts over four million visitors every year, more than most castles in France, making it one of the most popular things to do on a France vacation.

This castle represents one of the most beautiful achievements of Medieval architecture. Built in such a way that it protects the whole territory. It started out as an abbey and it was a favourite place for pilgrimage.

A true architectural and historic treasure of France, Mont Saint Michel situated in Normandy and represents a very special place for the French people.
