The Mercedes-Benz Museum is an automotive museum housed in Stuttgart, Germany. Stuttgart is home to the Mercedes-Benz brand and the international headquarters of Daimler AG.

The building's height and "double helix" interior were designed to maximize space, providing 16,500 square meters of exhibition space on a footprint of just 4,800 square meters. The museum contains more than 160 vehicles, some dating back to the very earliest days of the motor engine.

Located at the gates of the city, visitors to Stuttgart are greeted with the view of a unique new structure. Designed by UNStudio, one of the world's most respected architecture firms, the Mercedes‑Benz Museum is worth a visit for its design alone.

Ben van Berkel, joint founder and Director of UNStudio sums it up like this: "The Mercedes‑Benz Museum sets up an interface for a series of radical spatial principles in order to create a completely new typology."

One of the most outstanding aspects of this groundbreaking concept is the route taken by visitors through the Museum. They do not begin their visit to the exhibition at a conventional entrance at the base of the building. They are transported by lift to the top floor. Here they have the choice of two tours, during which they descend through the building. The paths of each tour meet on each floor, enabling visitors to switch between tours – the Collections tour and Legend tour – should they wish to do so.

On the following days the Mercedes-Benz Museum will be closed: Thursday, 1 January 2009 (New Year's Day) Thursday, 24 December 2009 (Christmas Eve) Friday, 25 December 2009 (Christmas Day) Thursday, 31 December 2009 (New Year's Eve)

The Museum is open on Easter Monday and Whit Monday.

Children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult. We regret that dogs are not permitted.

Getting there

Traffic guidance system: Please follow the NeckarPark/Mercedes-Benz traffic guidance system. The Mercedes-Benz Museum is only a stone’s throw away from the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Arrival by car

From Karlsruhe, take the A8 motorway to the exit Stuttgart-Vaihingen, then follow the A831 and the B14 towards Stuttgart-Zentrum. Continue on the B10/B14, following the Neckar-Park traffic guidance system and signs for the Mercedes-Benz Museum.
From Ulm, take the A8 motorway to the exit Esslingen-Zentrum. Then continue on the B313 and B10 towards Stuttgart. Follow the Neckar- Park traffic guidance system and signs for the Mercedes-Benz Museum.
From Heilbronn, take the A81 motorway to the Zuffenhausen exit, then take the B10 towards Stuttgart-Zentrum and follow the NeckarPark traffic guidance system towards Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt/Esslingen and signs for the Mercedes-Benz Museum

Parking

Parking facilities in the museum’s car park or in the P4 multi-story car park. Parking fees: 1 € per hour for the first, second and third hour; 2 € per hour from the fourth hour. Present your parking ticket when shopping in our museum shop or visiting our restaurants and you will be granted one hour of free parking. Disabled parking bays: Family and Disabled parking bays are provided for our disabled visitors in the museum car park (not P4). These can be found on level EG close to the ticket machines and glass doors. Vehicles for disabled persons beyond 1,90 m are permitted to park directly in front of the main entrance of the museum. Wheelchair users are requested to follow the signs for the elevator.

Classic Cars

We would like to invite you to park your classic car directly in front of the main entrance of the museum.

Events

During VfB Stuttgart’s home matches and other major events access to the Mercedes-Benz Museum may be restricted. In such circumstances we recommend the use of public transport.

Arrival by train

From Stuttgart main station take the S-Bahn (rapid transit system) of line S1 in the direction of Plochingen/Esslingen to NeckarPark (Mercedes-Benz). On leaving the train, follow signs to the museum.

Arrival by bus: Bad Cannstatt station is served by S-Bahn lines S1, 2 and 3 as well as by the regional rail network and RegionalExpress. Bus line 56 connects Bad Cannstatt station with Mercedes-Benz World.
