Situated in Scotland, near the village of Glamis, the castle is surrounded by many ghost stories, and it is also supposed to have several hidden chambers that make this place even more spooky.
The castle is mentioned in Shakespeare's play MacBeth, and legends say that King Malcolm the II was killed in one of the castle's rooms. This is highly unlikely as the castle dates from the 14th century and the murder from the 11th century. But this doesn't keep the legend passionate to come and visit it.
Another legend talks about The White Lady, the ghost of Lady Janet Douglas, the wife of the sixth lord of Glamis. Accused of being a witch, she was thrown in a dark dungeon and left there for several years and burned at the stake. She has been seen haunting the castle, and in the chapel there is always one seat reserved for her and no one else is allowed to use it.
After being restored in the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle resembles more like a French chateau.
