Rookie Experience

Your hands are on the wheel, your foot is on the gas, and you’re in the driver’s seat for 8 laps around the speedway in a 358 cubic inch V-8 NASCAR style stock car that roars with 600 horsepower. Prior to driving, students will go through two elements of safety and instruction training, in-car and on-track instruction. After driving like the “King,” students will receive a graduation packet that includes a time sheet with a breakdown of each lap driven. Participants can expect speeds up to 134 mph (based on driver ability). In addition to the Rookie Experience, you will receive round-trip transportation (included from two convenient pick up locations on the Las Vegas strip), an overview of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and a tour of the Richard Petty Driving Experience Race Shop. While touring our Race Shop, visitors may witness our RPDE mechanical staff working on NASCAR-style race cars.

Inclusion

Hours of operation

June – December: 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm; Pickups at 7:45am, 9:45am and 11:45am. No 1:00pm class in July and August. January-May, 2015: 10:30am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm.

Approximately 3-4 hours.

Location Pick-up locations: Excalibur (Rotunda - Airport/Shuttle Bus area). Paris (North Tour Lobby - go right out of the door at Anthony Cools Experience). Treasure Island (Sirens Cove Bus Area). The Mirage (North Tour Valet). Harrah’s (Bus Depot adjacent to the main valet).

Participant restrictions

Participants must be at least 16 years of age. If under 18 you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Additional Information Guests should wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. No sandals will be allowed.

Policies Please arrive at your preferred pick-up location 15 minutes before the stated pick up time. Maximum number of guests: 5. All guests must sign a release. Price includes a $25.00 driver release fee. All participants must arrive at the Harrah’s Bus Depot at least 15 minutes prior to the tour departure time.
RPDE reserves the right to cancel a Ride-Along and/or Driving Experience due to weather or other situations beyond RPDE’s control, including guests who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In the event of a weather cancellation, guests will be given a voucher (for Ride-Along) that does not expire or the option to reschedule to a mutually agreeable date or be issued a rain-out certificate, valid for one year from date of issue (for Driving Experience).
Participants must have ability to climb through a 15” high and 30” wide window that sits 36” from the ground.
