This trip combines two of our tours - visits to two sites guaranteeing the top quality of two most famous typical Czech products: glass and beer. If you want to learn something about Czech people you cannot miss this tour.
In Pilsen, (a metropolis of Western Bohemia), beer has been brewed since the town was founded in 1295. But the real Pilsner known in the world these days is connected with the name of Pilsner Urquell which is brewed in the Prazdroj brewery built in 1842. Since that time brewers all over the world have been trying in vain to imitate this beer!
Your visit to the factory will help you to understand how Pilsner (this bread which flows) was brewed and drank in the past and how real Pilsner is brewed and drank today. The museum collections document the brewery’s 150 year long history.
In the glassworks of the Rückl glass dynasty, with a three-hundred-year tradition Glass is one of the typical Czech products and you can find a number of glass factories around the Czech Republic. The most famous one is situated close to Prague. In less than one hour, you will travel from Prague to one of the most famous Czech glass factories located in the small town of Nizbor on the Berounka river (a tributary to the Vltava river). Nizbor Glass Factory is connected to a 300 year long tradition in glass making. You will learn in this tour about all stages of glass production including glass-blowing, painting, crackling and cutting and about the whole history and the contemporary period of glass production in Bohemia. During the excursion the visitors will get to know the individual stages of producing glass crystal by hand, i.e. the furnaces, processing, designing and polishing. At the end of the tour you can visit the company store, which is in the grounds of the glassworks. The Rückl Crystal glassworks in Nižbor manufactures an extensive range of cut 24% leaded crystal in a wide variety of decorations from the simple to extremely complex and laborious decorations, with gilt, hand painting and sandblasting. The company was chosen for the production and supply of official state gifts due to the very high quality of its products and services.
